Projects

1.

Acoustic Monitoring & Integrated Communication in Pipelines

 

Aimed at detection and prevention of leaks in pipelines by studying the acoustics of the fluid flowing and providing an alternate medium of transmission of signals. It drew the attention of Chevron Texaco Overseas Petroleum, California and Reliance Petroleum.

 

 

2.

Person Tally Using Streaming Video

 

Language/Platform: Java Media Framework

It was developed during Industrial Internship 2004 under the guidance of Mr. Rajan Luthra, Head, Security Engineering, Reliance Infocomm. It takes the feed from a Video Transmitter connected to a camera and counts no of persons moving in either directions at the location.

 

 

3.

Real Time CricAnalyser

 

Language/Platform: J2SDK, J2ME

The application is used for scoring in cricket matches. The score and its analysis are made available on the intranet and any Java enabled mobile phone. The software won the Third Prize in Open Software Contest, Synapse 2004, Annual Technical Festival of DA-IICT.

 

 

4.

Digital Logic Simulator

 

Language: Java

The objective is to create a simulator for logic gates that allows hardware circuits to be designed and tested. It would be used by the students in the laboratories for the undergraduate courses on Digital Logic at DA-IICT.

 

 

5.

Gram Panchayat

 

Language/Database: Visual Basic 6.0, Oracle 9i

The software aimed at providing a centralized database for a village panchayat and maintaining population, land and livestock records alongwith supporting the functionalities of rationing, schooling and medication.

 

 

6.

Mobile Weather Station

 

The project taken up as a part of Embedded Systems Programming course was aimed at collecting weather information using One Wire Weather station and TINI400. This information is uploaded on an ftp site using a mobile phone as a modem. The power requirements of the system were satisfied by a Solar Panel.

 

 

7.

AIDS in India: The Social, Technological and Financial impacts

 

The project included detailed study of AIDS in India. Interaction with NGOs & Experts, Presentation and Screening of a Documentary comprised the activities of the project.

 

 

8.

Marketing Analysis of AMUL

 

The structural and marketing policies of Amul were studied by visiting the campuses of Amul, GCMMF and IRMA, Anand. A presentation on the same was given in the institute.

Research Internship

 

Organisation:

Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar

 

Description:

The internship involves working on an IBM Sponsored project to study the IBM PowerPC Architecture and develop an application to build and deploy configurable Linux kernel for embedded systems using this architecture.

 

 

 

2.

Industrial Internship

 

Organisation:

Reliance Infocomm, Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City, Navi Mumbai

 

Description:

The aim was to gain an insight into digital video compression and its applications. The project was to analyze the vehicular traffic using live video of the location, and sending the information on a users mobile.

 

 

 

3.

Rural Internship

 

Organisation:

Bhasha Research & Publication Centre, Vadodara

 

Description:

This internship done in May-June 2003 in the tribal areas of Vadodara was aimed at exploring ICT applications to improve the conditions of the rural sector. Integrated Village Development Plan and Virtual Hospital were the primary projects taken up during the 6 weeks spent in villages.
